Radio Student is non-commercial college radio station from Zagreb, Croatia. As a result of our interest in modern communication technologies (coupled with inability to increase our low power on-air signal) we have always put emphasis on other ways of reaching wider audience. Notably - streaming.

Apart from "usual suspects" like Windows Media and Real Media, we are very proud to be one of the first stations in the world and first in Croatia to use the very best in today's streaming world - aacPlus codec. aacPlus uses cutting-edge Spectral Band Replication (SBR) and Parametric Stereo (PS) technologies to produce best audio quality at low bitrates of all streaming codecs available!

aacPlus scored highest on EBU Internet audio codecs test using MUSHRA method
(comparison at 48kbps stereo shown here)

Although Microsoft chooses not to support MPEG-4 industry standard and instead promotes it's own WMA codec, you can now listen to AAC/aacPlus streams with Windows Media Player thanks to Orban/Coding Technologies plugin. Get it here.
